Stuffocation author James Wallman is moving to Ebury for his new book Time and How to Spend It: Seven Ways to Better Days.
The publisher acquired world rights at auction from Diana Beaumont at Marjacq.
Deputy publisher of Ebury, Joel Rickett, said: “James Wallman has the rare ability to combine audacious ideas - across psychology, economics and culture - with original storytelling. This is practical, too: any book that shows us how to have consistently buzzing weekends and happy holidays gets my vote.”
In his previous title, published by Penguin Life, Wallman explored how we were spending too much on things and theorised that if we focused more on experiences, we’d be happier. In Time and How to Spend It, Wallman draws together the latest scientific and psychological research to form seven ‘rules for life’. At the centre of this is the “inspiring revelation that you can’t actively choose and design better experiences.” Wallman said: “If the most precious thing we have is time, the most highly prized expertise should be knowing how to spend it well.”
He also says that the book “contains a simple to understand, easy to use, science-backed checklist that will help everyone who reads it live not only the good life, but the great life.”
Time and How to Spend It: Seven Ways to Better Days will be published by the Virgin Books list in April 2019.
