Buster Books acquires Jess French's mindfulness-inspired picture book

Buster Books, the children's imprint of Michael O’Mara Books, will publish CBeebies presenter Dr Jess French's first book. The picture book will be illustrated by Dutch artist Eefje Kuijl.

Editorial director Hannah Daffern acquired world English-language rights from Gill McLay at the Bath Literary Agency. Slow Down, Monkey! will be published on 6th August 2020. 

French is a vet and conservationist, and has presented the CBeebies show "Minibeast Adventure" since 2014. 

Slow Down, Monkey! is about a "speedy spider monkey" who is busy planning her birthday party. When Monkey meets a sloth, she learns to slow down and experience the world around her. The book includes spreads on animals and mindfulness tips for children and their parents. 

French said: "I am bursting with excitement to finally introduce Monkey and her friends to the world. This book has been with me for a long time, so I am delighted that it is publishing at a time when its message seems more important and relevant than ever."
