Buster Books is to publish Am I Made of Stardust?, a middle-grade reference book from award-winning scientist and BBC broadcaster Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock.
The book is the second in a world rights deal secured by Lesley O’Mara, managing director, from Vicki McIvor from Take Three Management in a two-book deal. Following on from Dr Maggie’s Grand Tour of the Solar System, which came out in 2019, Am I Made of Stardust? will be published on 29th September.
Aderin-Pocock is a space scientist who has presented “The Sky at Night” on BBC Four since 2014 alongside “Do We Really Need The Moon?” on BBC2. Her other television credits include “Stargazing” on CBeebies and “Out of This World” on CBBC.
Am I Made of Stardust? looks at a range of children’s questions about space from how the universe began, how long it would take to fly to a star and what astronauts eat for dinner. Written in her “hugely engaging style” and accompanied by “incredible” images from Nasa and “eye-popping” illustration from Chilen Ecija, the book promises to reinvigorate the subject of space for young readers.
Evans said: “It’s been such a pleasure to work with Dr Maggie on her second book for kids. Packed with mind-blowing facts, insights and the infectious enthusiasm of its author, Am I Made of Stardust? takes young readers from the edge of the sun to the distant reaches of the universe. It brings space to life as only Dr Maggie can.”
Aderin-Pocock added: “I love talking to kids about space and astronomy and they have so many amazing questions. In this book I have taken some of my favourites and written answers for them so they can be shared with everyone.”
