Calon has landed There She Goes, My Beautiful World, the memoir from Gosia Buzzanca.
Publisher Abbie Headon acquired world rights directly from the author. The book will be published in autumn 2025.
In her memoir, Buzzanca, winner of the W&A Working Class Writers’ Prize 2022, combines her return to Poland for a school reunion, her life as a mother in Wales and recollections of childhood abuse. "Through these twin timelines, we see how the past influences the present, and how challenging it is to reconcile painful memories and move forward with a freer heart."
Buzzanca commented: "I’m grateful to Abbie Headon and everyone at Calon Press for taking a chance on me and There She Goes, My Beautiful World. It’s a book about the power of the spirit and the beauty of a moment, set in the backdrop of glorious Wales and re-discovered Poland. These types of personal stories are essential for gaining a deeper understanding of others’ experiences, which is crucial in the current times."
Headon added: "This memoir covers themes that are relevant to public discourse today, including the role that people from the European Union play in the UK in the aftermath of Brexit, and how women are finding the power to speak up about sexual grooming and abuse in the wake of the #MeToo movement."
