Cambridge University Press (CUP) has signed A Climate of Truth: Why We Need It and How to Get It, a new book on the climate crisis and "learning to live in the Anthropocene", from Mike Berners-Lee.
Matt Lloyd, commissioning editor for earth sciences, acquired world rights, including digital, directly from the author for publication in March 2025.
Berners-Lee’s new book "calls for radically-higher standards of honesty in politics, media and business as a catalyst to achieve change". The publisher added: "In the search for answers that have been so elusive to date, Berners-Lee looks at the challenge from new angles, standing further back from the problem to gain perspective, digging deeper under the surface to see the root causes, joining up every element of the challenges we face and learning from our failures so far."
Lloyd said that A Climate of Truth "delves even deeper into the polycrisis, looking at the crux of what has been holding us back in the fight against climate change, and what it will take for us to do better".
Berners-Lee added: "I wrote A Climate of Truth to expose what I think is the most critical factor for the world in dealing not just with climate but with the wider challenge of humanity learning to live in the Anthropocene. I’m particularly grateful to CUP for allowing this book to evolve so much on its journey from the concept first commissioned into this book that tries to raise all our chances of thriving in the decades to come."
