Canelo has signed print rights to J D Kirk’s self-published DCI Logan series in a 20-book deal.
Siân Heap, commissioning editor, and managing director Iain Millar acquired world English language print rights from Elizabeth Counsell at Northbank Talent Management. A Killer Influence, the 20th book in the series, will be published in hardback on 12th September 2024 simultaneously with the author’s self-published e-book edition. Canelo will publish the previous 19 books in the series in mass market paperback editions over the next 18 months. The first instalment, A Litter of Bones, will be published in May 2024.
Kirk is the pen name for Scottish author Barry Hutchinson. He has written more than 140 books for children and adults under his pseudonym and more than 20 as Hutchinson.
The DCI Jack Logan series is set in the Scottish Highlands and has, combined, sold more than three million copies in e-book, according to Canelo.
Heap said: “J D Kirk’s DCI Logan series is a prime example of fantastic digital publishing. His novels are absolutely adored by his legions of fans for good reason – they’re brilliantly atmospheric, darkly funny and full of twists and turns. We are so excited to be bringing the series into print and to introducing DCI Logan to many more readers.”
Kirk commented: “I’ve loved writing the DCI Logan books over the past few years, and am continually grateful for the support of all my readers. Now, working with Canelo, I can’t wait to bring the series to an even wider audience.”
