Digital publisher Canelo has signed a three-book deal for a new police procedural series by Rachel Lynch.
Louise Cullen, editorial director at Canelo, signed a deal for World English language to the first three books in Lynch's series from Peter Buckman at the Buckman Agency.
The novels feature Detective Inspector Kelly Porter and are set in the Lake District. The first in the series, Dark Game, will be published in January 2018, with two further novels to follow later that year.
Dark Game sees DI Kelly Porter return to her home town in the Lake District following a scandal that forced her out of the Met. When a cold case becomes linked to recent crimes in the area, Kelly learns that the sleepy veneer of local tourism hides dark and dangerous illegal activities.
Cullen said: "I am incredibly excited about publishing the DI Kelly Porter novels. Dark Game is an explosive start to the series, showcasing Rachel’s talent for pace, tension and revealing the darker sides of human nature. The Lake District setting is the perfect choice for a series of police procedural novels: the beautiful landscape is also an ideal place to hide bodies. This is a key signing for Canelo’s 2018 list as female protagonist crime series continue to dominate ebook charts."
Lynch said: "I am thrilled to be working with Louise and the fantastic team at Canelo on my debut title. This is an exciting time for digital publishing and I can't wait to see more of the series published next year."
