Canongate will next May publish The Ice House, a second novel from fantasy writer Tim Clare.
The story, described as an epic literary fantasy about endless life, cheating death and staying true to what matters most, is about an 80-something year-old called Delphine and a centuries-old assassin called Hagar, who is planning one final death.
Jo Dingley, who acquired world rights from Sophie Lambert at Conville & Walsh, said: “Tim has the most astonishing imagination, and his world-building is like nothing I have ever read. Not only is this a complex, breathless, adventure, it is also an intensely moving story about aging and life-long love, told in a way that I don’t think readers will have seen before.”
Canongate published Clare’s first novel The Honours in 2015 and will publish The Ice House in hardback in May 2019.
