Faber Children’s Books has acquired a collection of short stories, set in World War II, by Emma Carroll.
Carroll, whose novel Secrets of a Sun King is currently Waterstones Children’s Book of the Month, was inspired to write the stories after hearing questions about the war from children at school and festival events. Topics covered include evacuation and an animal rescue service.
“After Letters from the Lighthouse there were stories in my head still dying to be told, so it’s been an absolute treat to return to the era,” said Carroll. “As ever Faber listened, supported and got behind the project. I know I'm very lucky to work with such a brilliant team.”
Editor Stella Paskins acquired world rights to When we were Warriors from Emily Talbot at United Agents and will publish in February 2019.
