Octopus imprint Cassell has bagged rights for One Young World’s “definitive guide to activism” featuring advice from Sir Bob Geldof, Black Lives Matter and author Fatima Bhutto.
Romilly Morgan, senior commissioning editor at Octopus Publishing Group, acquired UK and commonwealth rights from Zoe King of AM Heath at auction. How to Make a Difference will be published in hardback this September.
One Young World is a global forum for young leaders aged 18 to 30 who want to accelerate social change. It holds an annual summit that sees delegates from more than 190 countries receive advice from influential leaders like Justin Trudeau, Paul Polman and Meghan Markle.
Written by the organisation’s co-founder Kate Robertson and managing director Ella Robertson, the new book sets out to “encourage and educate young leaders on how to become leaders of tomorrow”. Topics covered include how to change the law, protest, use social media effectively and change a large organisation.
The authors said: “Despite everything that One Young World has achieved, exceptional young leaders are needed more than ever before. How to Make a Difference takes its inspiration from the same urgent need that motivated us to establish One Young World – there’s leadership vacuum in the world and young leaders can take us to a better place. This book contains insight from some of the greatest leaders making a difference today. We hope it will inspire action and progress.”
