Century has landed a new series from former police detective Caroline Mitchell, beginning with The Ice Angels.
Claire Simmonds, fiction publishing director, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in a two-book deal from Madeleine Milburn at the Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency. The Ice Angels will publish in early 2026.
The Ice Angels introduces Finnish crime inspector Elea Baker who is brought in to investigate the disappearance of three girls in Lincoln, England. When one of the girls reappears, they are holding an object that relates to the abduction of Elea’s daughter in Helsinki over a decade ago.
The synopsis continues: "As Elea delves deeper, she uncovers a web of secrets that shatters everything she thought she knew about her past and leaves her more determined than ever to find the person who took her daughter."
Milburn said that Mitchell’s new "modern British crime series with Nordic-noir elements [marks] the perfect moment to launch in the tradtional space with Century".
Simmonds commented: "Caroline is a master at her craft; her writing is compelling, dark and addictive – everything a crime reader is looking for. Elea Baker is one of the freshest and most exciting characters I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a long time."
Mitchell added: "From the moment Claire shared her vision for the series, I knew that the strong and relentless detective Elea Baker had found her perfect home."
