Century has signed a three-book deal for Paisley Hope’s originally self-published Silver Pines series.
Assistant editor Jess Muscio acquired world rights directly from the author. North American rights sold to Shauna Summers at Dell, an imprint of Ballantine PRH US, and German rights sold at auction to Blanvalet.
Holding the Reins, originally self-published February of this year, will be re-released summer 2024 with the second book in the series, Training the Heart, to folllow in autumn 2024.
Holding the Reins, the first in the cowboy romance series, follows CeCe Ashby who, after escaping a toxic relationship, returns to her family ranch in Laurel Creek, Kentucky. A "heart-stopping" romance then begins between CeCe and Nash Carter, retired ice hockey player and her brother’s best friend.
Muscio said: "As soon as I read the first page of Holding the Reins, I was hooked. Paisley’s narrative voice is brilliant, and she has created a series that expertly balances humour with deeper themes and emotion. The Silver Pines series encapsulates everything I love in contemporary love stories; strong women and female friendships, swoon-worthy small-town romance, brilliant banter, and characters with both heart and hidden depth – not to mention toe-tapping country music!"
Hope added: "I’ve been a wife and homeschooling mother for years. As my children grew more independent, I finally had a little more time to pursue my passion of writing. I wrote the outline for the Silver Pines series in 2022 and Holding The Reins in 2023, giving it my all and incorporating my great love for the south, family and cowboys. To know that the world will soon meet my characters is the most incredible, surreal feeling. I am so grateful and honoured to be working with Jess and the brilliant team at Century. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next."
