Century has acquired a guide to the "golden age" of "The Simpsons", written by the hosts of a popular Simpsons podcast, Four Finger Discount. The book's publication on 2nd November in hardback and e-book will coincide with the programme's 30th anniversary.
According to the guide's authors, Mitch Grinter and Branden Dand, the book will celebrate the best of the show "packed full of nostalgia". It will examine iconic characters and dissect seminal episodes and pivotal moments. It will feature personal essays from the authors about what "The Simpsons" means to them and why it is important to so many others around the world. It will also hark back to celebrity cameos on the show such as from Michael Jackson, Donald Trump and Paul McCartney, and jokes fans might have missed the first time.
Assistant editor Huw Armstrong acquired world rights direct from the authors.
Grinder and Dando said: "There is a huge community of Simpsons fans out there and we are overwhelmed with excitement to be given the opportunity by Penguin Random House to find a new way to connect with them. With a new take on the show and packed full of nostalgia, nobody has written a book about the show quite like this before. We hope it does Simpsons fans justice."
Armstrong said: "Everyone can quote, reference, or remember at least one episode of 'The Simpsons'. That speaks volumes about what show means to people and just how popular it is. We’re dangerously close to a post-Simpsons world which is why we’re so excited to be publishing a book by Four Finger Discount celebrating its greatest moments, episodes and characters."
