Century has snapped up three more books from Lisa Jewell beginning with None of This is True.
Publisher Selina Walker acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Jonny Geller at Curtis Brown. The first novel will be published in July 2023.
Jewell has written more than 20 novels including The Girls (Cornerstone), Then She Was Gone (Cornerstone) and The Family Upstairs (Cornerstone). According to the publisher she has sold more than 10 million copies of her books worldwide and has been published in over 25 languages. The Night She Disappeared (Cornerstone) was shortlisted for the Book of the Year: Audiobook, Fiction at the British Book Awards 2022.
None of This is True is a “study of truth, lies, obsessions and murder” following two women, Alix and Josie, who meet by happenstance and discover they share a birthday. The publisher continued: “Alix is a podcaster, and she agrees to make a podcast about how Josie is transforming her life. What Alix has not bargained for are the dark secrets Josie is about to share with her. As London swelters through the summer months, Josie and Alix become close – too close, perhaps. And soon Alix finds that she has put herself and her family in mortal danger…”
“Lisa truly is the queen of psychological suspense,” Walker said. “She was one of the top five bestselling crime writers in the UK in 2022, and paperback sales of The Family Upstairs alone top half a million copies. This new book is tense and intense, and the reader reads on with a kind of horrified fascination. It’s about the relationship between two women who live in very different circumstances just a few streets away from each other, and as the narrative develops you start to wonder who is manipulating who, and who is telling the truth. All Lisa’s books are gripping and unputdownable – but in this one she takes unputdownable to a whole new level.
“Speaking personally, Lisa is also one of the nicest, hard-working, most professional authors I have had the pleasure of working with. We agreed a new three-book contract earlier this year, and I am thrilled to be continuing my and Century’s relationship with her in the years to come.”
Jewell commented: “Since I came to Century back in 2007, my publishing team, led by the incredible Selina Walker, has taken my career from strength to strength, building my confidence higher and higher with each subsequent publication. Nobody on my team understands the meaning of the word ‘can’t’; they constantly push this industry to the nth degree to achieve objectives and smash targets at the same time as being a true pleasure to work with. I am beyond delighted to be signing up for another three books and looking forward to all the adventures yet to come.”
