Century has signed the Alzheimer’s Society first puzzle book, designed "to work out the brain", written by Dr Tim Beanland, head of knowledge at the Alzheimer’s Society, following a six-way auction.
Editorial director for Century Non-Fiction Zennor Compton acquired world rights from Adam Gauntlett at PFD. Mind Games will be published on 12th October 2023.
Mind Games includes 150 puzzles of "varying difficulty" designed by Dr Gareth Moore. It aims to target different areas of the brain and improve cognition with the puzzles crafted to challenge memory or skills with pictures, words, numbers or logic.
Alongside the puzzles, Dr Beanland provides "expert" insight into the science of brain health and the benefits of regular mental exercise.
Dr Beanland commented: "It has been a pleasure to work with Century on such an important and timely subject as brain health. Writing Mind Games has certainly given my brain a thorough workout, and I hope that the text and puzzles will offer readers the same."
Compton added: "Dr Tim’s insight into brain health is fascinating and, with a variety of puzzles at all difficulty levels, Mind Games will help readers to keep their grey matter healthy and have fun doing so."
