Channel 4 has commissioned a TV series based on Joe Wicks’ bestselling cookery and fitness title Lean in 15 (Bluebird).
The show will be produced by Full Fat TV, which is already looking for members of the public to take part and improve their fitness, and will air in summer 2016.
Wicks said: “2016 has been amazing for me so far - I have a massive number 1 book, sold over half a million copies, I’ve helped get loads of people lean and now I’m gonna be on the telly, in my own show. It’s wonderful and crazy in equal measures and I’m the happiest guy on the planet right now."
Wicks’ Lean in 15 is currently at second place in the UK Nielsen book chart after spending several weeks at number one. Total UK sales now stand at 556,665 copies sold total, and the debut cookbook is just 24,000 copies away from becoming one of the top 50 bestselling non-fiction titles since records began.
Carole Tonkinson, Wicks’ publisher at Bluebird, said: “I’m thrilled that Channel Four will be bringing Joe and his incredible work to an even wider audience. With nearly one million Instagram followers (compared with 75K when we signed Joe up in at the beginning of last year), his rise is astonishing. And when we consider that he has achieved all of that without a TV show, it’s even more astonishing. I couldn’t be happier for Joe.”
