Charco Press has snapped up the rights to Marcelo Rubens Paiva’s memoir.
The news comes as the film adaptation of the book landed Oscar nominations this week, and took home a Golden Globe earlier this month.
Carolina Orloff, publishing editor, acquired world English-langauge rights to Ainda Estou Aqui (I’m Still Here) from Julia Wähmann and Lucia Riff from Brazilian literary agency Agência Riff, and Indent in New York.
Star of the adaptation Fernanda Torres picked up a Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture-Drama, and this week the film picked up three nominations for the Academy Awards: Best Actress, Best International Feature and Best Picture.
Charco’s edition is slated to be translated by Daniel Hahn and Alison Entrekin, with a current scheduled release date for late 2025.
The book will be distributed by Inpress Books in the UK, and by Consortium Book Sales & Distribution in North America.
