Chelsea Green has scooped The Natural Order of Money, a "modern classic of economic thinking" from Roy Sebag.
Margo Baldwin, president and publisher, acquired all language world rights directly from the author. The book will be published on 13th April 2023 in the UK and 4th May in the US.
Originally self-published in December 2022, The Natural Order of Money was an instant Amazon bestseller in the UK and US, according to the publisher. Sebag’s book "challenges the traditional ways we think about the economy and how it operates and redefines what money should mean for our modern society moving forward".
The publisher added: "Exploring the connections between people, money and nature, Sebag starts by asking a few simple questions: why do we, in our modern society, expect food as if it were a given? What initially makes co-operation between the farmer and other members of society possible, and what, in the long run, renders it sustainable? The solution, Sebag writes, is that only natural money can serve as the concrete means of assuring lasting prosperity."
Baldwin commented: "Money has become disconnected from the real world and it’s way past time to bring it back down to earth. Roy’s work is crucial in understanding how the natural or ’real’ economy underpins everything we do, and the more that money is disconnected from that, the less likely it is that we will survive as a civilization. His book couldn’t be more timely and crucial as we navigate our way out of the pandemic years."
Sebag added: "The goal of this book is to revive the taste for traditional, qualitative, holistic wisdom in the sphere of economics in order to help break the frozen mould of our modern system that has become intolerably inequitable and unsustainable. I am pleased to announce that Chelsea Green is now the rightful home of The Natural Order of Money."
