Choc Lit has snapped up six books from the previously self-published author K T Dady.
Editorial director Emma Grundy Haigh acquired world English language, translation and audio rights to Dady’s new "cosy romance" series set in the fictional Cornish fishing village of Port Berry, direct from the author. Choc Lit will publish the series simultaneously in e-book and paperback from spring 2024.
The author began publishing during the pandemic and her new series is her first foray into traditionally publishing.
In Welcome to Port Berry, the start to the series, the synopsis says: "Sophie is still stinging from the end of a bad relationship, and gets involved at the Happy to Help Hub. There she meets Matt, new to the Cornish fishing village, and in desperate need of a fresh start himself. He’s a recovering alcoholic from London, who just wants inner peace to heal from his past. Will they find their happily ever after in Port Berry?"
Dady said: “I am pleased that Choc Lit will be publishing my new series set in a quaint Cornish fishing village, Port Berry. It’s a joy to know my stories will be in good hands, and I’m looking forward to working with Emma and the rest of the Choc Lit family.”
Grundy Haigh added: “K T Dady is a force of nature as a self-published author — although she only started publishing during the pandemic, she’s achieved extraordinary success with legions of fans flocking to her warm, cosy village romances. So it’s a huge privilege for us to join her on this new journey, and we’re delighted to be able to introduce readers a brand-new series.
"The whole Choc Lit team is excited to bring this brand-new series to new readers and I could not be more happy to be working with her.”
