Choc Lit has signed a two-book deal with "TikTok feminist" Sarah Gate for her debut romance Or Something.
Editorial director Emma Grundy Haigh acquired world rights directly from the author. The Lorella Belli Literary Agency will be handling the translation, audiobook, film and television rights. Or Something will be published first as an e-book with the paperback edition to follow later in 2024.
Grundy Haigh commented: "From the very first pages of Or Something, I was hooked by Sarah’s hugely endearing characters, the rhythm of her prose, her easy and authentic dialogue. She brings tremendous grace to heavy subjects such as grief and loss, life and love after everything seems to spiral beyond your control. Sarah offers such a fresh voice in contemporary romance, and I’m overjoyed that she has joined the Choc Lit list."
Gate, who posts on TikTok under @feminismforeveryone, added: "I’m very happy to be joining the Choc Lit family and couldn’t imagine a better home for my books."
