American writer and consultant Jim Collins, author of Good to Great, is releasing an "ambitious upgrade" of his first book, Beyond Entrepreneurship: Turning Your Business into an Enduring Great Company, previously unpublished in the UK.
It will be released simultaneously on 1st December 2020 by Portfolio in the US and Random House Business in the UK. Nigel Wilcockson, publishing director of Random House Business, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in a deal struck with Shirley Stewart for Curtis Brown NY.
Collins has authored or co-authored six books that have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, according to Random House, among which are Good to Great, Built to Last, How the Mighty Fall and Great by Choice. Through Nielsen BookScan he has sold 196,532 books for £2.8m, with Good to Great selling 162,366 copies in hardback in 2001.
Published in the US in 1992, nine years before Good to Great, Collins and Bill Lazier wrote Beyond Entrepreneurship. Now, Beyond Entrepreneurship 2.0 is being released as "a new and improved" version of the book. In the new edition, Collins honours his mentor, Lazier, who passed away in 2004, and re-examines the original text of Beyond Entrepreneurship with a 2020 perspective.
The book includes the original text of Beyond Entrepreneurship, as well as four new chapters and 15 new essays. It includes fresh findings plus, according to Random House, "world-changing insights that extend far beyond the original edition".
Wilcockson of Random House Business said: "Jim is the most influential business thinker of our era and we couldn’t be more excited to publish this revised edition at a critical time when businesses and organisations need his insights more than ever."
