Constable, an imprint of the Little, Brown, Book Group, has acquired debut thriller The Reunion by Australian author Bronwyn Rivers.
Editorial director Hannah Wann acquired world rights from Samantha Brace at Peter Fraser + Dunlop. It will publish in February 2025.
The Reunion is billed as “an atmospheric thriller set in the mountainous bushland of New South Wales, Australia”. The story centres on five old schoolmates who reunite to attend the memorial of their friend’s death. Ed Fletcher died on a bushwalking trip that the group took as teenagers and now, 10 years on, Ed’s mother Mary has invited them to her isolated farm. But when they find themselves trapped at the farmhouse, temperatures and tensions rise, and it soon becomes clear that someone is playing a deadly game.
Wann said: “I’m thrilled to have acquired Bronwyn’s debut for the Constable list. With vivid writing and a creeping sense of dread, The Reunion is a tense page-turner filled with secrets, lies and the stifling heat of the Australian bush.”
Rivers added: “I’m delighted that my book has found a home with such a well-regarded imprint. The harsh beauty of the Australian bush provides a perfect backdrop for the kind of mystery novels I have long enjoyed, with the small cast of characters trapped in the pressure cooker of a closed setting. I’m really enjoying working with Hannah to bring my story to a worldwide audience.”
