Constable has netted the psychological thrilled Obsessed in a two-book deal from debut author Liza North.
Commissioning editor Hannah Wann acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Camilla Shestopal at Shesto Literary. Obsessed will be published in hardback May 2023.
The publisher wrote: "Obsessed follows Laura, who crosses paths with the man who was her childhood sweetheart one day at her daughter’s nursey. Laura and Alexis begin a passionate affair, but the haunting events that ended their relationship as teenagers still follow them. Then Alexis is discovered murdered and Laura finds herself a suspect."
"Liza has written a deliciously dark, brilliantly executed psychological thriller that hooked me within the first few pages," Wann said. "Set between present-day Edinburgh and a secondary school in the 90s, Obsessed is a story of desire, jealously and betrayal which delivers twist after twist."
North said: "I’m delighted to be published by Constable and to join their amazing portfolio of thrillers. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with Hannah and the team, and to see my book come to life thanks to their enthusiasm and editorial brilliance."
