Constable, an imprint of Little, Brown Book Group, has acquired Everyone Who Can Forgive Me is Dead by debut author Jenny Hollander, plus a second novel.
Editorial director Hannah Wann acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Marina de Pass at The Soho Agency, on behalf of Claire Friedman at Inkwell Management. North American rights were acquired by Sallie Lotz at Minotaur, St Martin’s.
Everyone Who Can Forgive Me is Dead will be published in hardback, trade paperback, e-book and audiobook on 6th February 2024 and will be a lead title for Constable.
The synopsis reads: “It’s been nine years since Charlotte Colbert survived a horrific mass killing at a prestigious New York university on Christmas Eve – an event the tabloids dubbed ’Scarlet Christmas’. In the police reports, she was named as a witness, though Charlie knows she was far more than that. Now, the case is being adapted for film and Charlie’s classmate is promising the public that, this time, they’ll find out what really happened…”
Jenny Hollander is the director of content strategy at Marie Claire US, where she manages brand strategy and digital content, including Marie Claire’s book club, #ReadWithMC.
Wann said: “With a darkly compelling pitch that will appeal to fans of Luckiest Girl Alive (Jessica Knoll, Macmillan) and ’Yellowjackets’, with a razor-sharp voice and deft plotting, Jenny has crafted a truly compulsive thriller.”
Hollander commented: “As a native Londoner, I grew up reading Little, Brown novels, and it’s a dream come true to be part of this incredible list.”
