Cornerstone has landed marriage and family therapist Julie Menanno’s “practical and zeitgeisty” approach to attachment styles in a six-way auction.
Helen Conford acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to Secure Love from Sheila Crowley at Curtis Brown, on behalf of Alexandra Machinist. It will be published in trade paperback, e-book and audio in February 2024.
Menanno is the couple’s therapist behind the popular Instagram account @TheSecureRelationship, which has one million followers. In Secure Love, Menanno tackles: Why you and your partner have the same fight over and over, the four attachment types, with exercises designed to help you understand your and any partner’s attachment style and how to improve communication in a relationship, including staying connected during conflict and prioritising vulnerability—rather than protectivity—in communication.
The book also includes “instead of that, say this” suggested scripts of how to approach difficult situations in a relationship from a more productive and vulnerable stance and an exploration of why insecure attachment negatively impacts a couple’s sex life and how to restore that sexual connection.
