Cornerstone Press has acquired the latest book from Philippa Perry, The Book You Want Everyone You Love* To Read (*And Maybe a Few You Don’t).
Managing director Venetia Butterfield and editorial director Anna Argenio acquired world language rights from Stephanie Thwaites and Alice Lutyens at Curtis Brown. Cornerstone Press will publish in hardback, e-book and audio on 12th October 2023.
Perry is an artist and psychotherapist as well as an agony aunt for Observer Magazine, a freelance writer, and a TV and radio presenter. Her number one Sunday Times bestselling book The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read was published by Penguin Life in 2019 and has been translated into over 40 languages.
In her new book, the publisher says, Philippa Perry offers “sane and sage advice on how to have better relationships with anybody". It adds: “Life is about the quality of our connections, whether that’s with family, partners, friends, colleagues. If we can get those relationships on a functional and even keel, then the other tricky stuff that life throws our way becomes easier to manage.
“In this warm, practical and witty book, Philippa Perry will show you how to approach life’s big problems. How do you find and keep love? What can you do to manage conflict better? How can you get unstuck and cope with change and loss? What does it mean to you to be content? Are other people just annoying or are you the problem? With a healthy dose of sanity, Philippa Perry’s compassionate advice could help you become a happier, wiser person.”
Perry said: “The Book You Wish was primarily about the relationships we have with our children. The Book You Want is about all our relationships, why they matter and how we can improve them.”
Argenio commented: “There are very few authors that are able to connect with readers in the way Philippa Perry does. And that’s because she’s wise and witty and sane and reassuring. Her advice has helped millions of people navigate life, love, loss and everything in between. This new book is much bigger and broader in scope than any of her previous and is set to be the most exciting non-fiction release of the year.”
