Sky News presenter pens The Women Who Shaped Politics

Hodder & Stoughton imprint Coronet has acquired a book telling the story of women in Westminster authored by Sky News presenter Sophy Ridge, formerly senior political correspondent for the channel.

The Women Who Shaped Politics: Fascinating stories of women who influenced government is scheduled to publish on 23rd March 2017.

According to Coronet it will provide "gripping insight" into historical and contemporary stories appealing both to politicos and to those who want to know more about women's role in democracy. From royalty to writers and from class warriors to suffragettes, Ridge will tell the story of those who put their lives on the line for equal rights, and those who were the first to set foot inside the chambers of power, bringing together little known stories and new discoveries to draw parallels across history to the present day.

For the book, Ridge has interviewed current and former MPs to gain insight into the role women play in politics at the highest level. It will also include Theresa May’s "most revealing" interview to date, says Hodder, giving new insight about her journey to becoming prime minister.

Fiona Rose, assistant editor for Coronet, acquired world rights from James Saville at Goldbug.
