Atlantic Books title Distress Signals, a thriller from debut Irish author Catherine Ryan Howard, has been optioned for TV by Great Point Media-backed Jet Stone Productions.
Distress Signals is a "deeply compelling" and "cleverly plotted" thriller. When Adam’s girlfriend fails to return from a business trip, he sets out to find her – putting him on a collision course with a deadly predator who may have found the perfect hunting ground. Atlantic holds UK & Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) to the title, which will be published on 5th May 2016.
Great Point Media has backed the development of over 50 TV shows, series and feature films including "Line of Duty", "Doc Martin", "Goat", "Complete Unknown" and "The Confirmation".
Howard said: "The idea of seeing Distress Signals on screen is very exciting but it's made even more so by Jet Stone's involvement. The team there boast very impressive CVs, the company has a great track record and they've shown huge enthusiasm for the book. It also doesn't hurt that they backed what is probably the best show on TV at the moment - and definitely my personal favourite - 'Line of Duty' Series 3."
Editorial director, Sara O’Keeffe, said: "I’m thrilled that Great Point Media has optioned this fantastic, page-turning thriller. It has all the right ingredients for a gripping television drama, replete with great characters and a very clever plot."
