Curtis Sittenfeld’s novel Romantic Comedy will be brought to the big screen by New Line Cinema and Hello Sunshine, adapted by Jordan Weiss and Dan Brier.
Romantic Comedy was acquired by Jane Lawson, deputy publisher for Doubleday from Fiona Baird at WME on behalf of Claudia Ballard, and has sold almost 100,000 copies across all formats in the UK and internationally according to the publisher.
It follows a female scriptwriter finding love set in a TV world inspired by "Saturday Night Live".
Penguin Transworld will launch the paperback on 28th March. The film will be produced on screen by Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine (a Candle Media company), with Ashley Strumwasser serving as executive producer. Sittenfeld will also be an executive producer.
