Damon Hill autobiography to Pan Macmillan

Formula One star Damon Hill has penned his autobiography, which has been snapped up by Pan Macmillan.

The racing legend’s “deeply personal” memoir Watching the Wheels will tell the story of Hill’s journey through the last golden era of Formula One when he took on the greats of the sport from Ayton Senna to Michael Schumacher and emerged victorious as World Champion.

The publisher said: “Watching the Wheels is incredibly candid and deeply personal and tells for the first time at length about what it was like growing up as the son of one of this country's most famous racing drivers, and coping with the very public aftermath of Graham Hill’s fatal airplane crash. The swirling emotions that Hill was faced with, particularly when confronted with the death of Ayton Senna, defined not only his private life, but professional life too, and make this one of the most gripping sports autobiographies to be published in recent memory.”

Pan Macmillan non-fiction publisher Robin Harvie acquired UK, Commonwealth rights from David Luxton at DLA.

The book will be published in autumn 2016 to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Damon Hill’s F1 World Championship.
