Danielle Steel has signed a further 20-book contract with Pan Macmillan, with managing director of the Pan division Lucy Hale acquiring UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Caroline Michel at Peters Fraser & Dunlop Literary Agency and Kenneth Weinrib of Franklin Weinrib Rudell + Vassallo LLP.
Danielle Steel has written more than 200 novels with sales well over one billion copies, according to the publisher. Pan Macmillan is currently publishing seven first-format titles a year by Steel, whose most recent book is Resurrection. The author has also written 17 children’s books, poetry and four works of non-fiction—including His Bright Light, the story of her son’s life and death. The first book in the new contract is scheduled for late 2026.
Publishing director Trisha Jackson said: “It is a huge honour and a privilege to publish a storyteller as loved across the world as Danielle. Her books are adored by millions of readers and her countless number one bestsellers, both in the UK and internationally, make her one of the world’s favourite authors. People love her novels because she writes honestly about the things that hurt us or scare us while always giving her characters a safe harbour—and her readers a sense of hope.”
Managing director of Pan, Lucy Hale, commented: “Danielle holds a very special place in our roster of treasured authors at Pan, and we are absolutely delighted and proud to be continuing as her publisher in the UK and in our international markets. We look forward with excitement to the opportunity to grow her readership even further, ensuring she continues to hold her rightful place at the top of the bestseller charts for many more years to come. We have big plans to reveal for 2025.”
Danielle Steel said she is “honoured and privileged” to continue working with Pan Macmillan and described working with the teams across the company’s territories as a “pleasure.”
“I write about the things that we all care deeply and worry about, the things that bring us joy or pain, faced with the hopes, disappointments, fears and challenges we all face in life and human relationships, and struggle to overcome. If I can offer comfort, solace or hope to my readers—and even make them laugh or smile at the things we all deal with, then it is a victory,” she said.
Pan Macmillan c.e.o Joanna Prior said: “We’re so proud to publish Danielle at Pan Macmillan: she is a compelling storyteller with the most remarkable ability to capture her readers’ imaginations and their hearts. I look forward to seeing Pan continue to bring her work to her loyal fans, as well as introducing her books to new audiences around the world.”
