Daphne Press has signed a three-book deal with Andrew Joseph White for Hell Followed With Us, a contemporary horror, The Spirit Bares Its Teeth, a Victorian gothic horror, and Compound Fracture.
Commissioning editor Davi Lancett acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Peachtree Teen. Daphne Press will publish all three titles in paperback and e-book beginning with Hell Followed With Us on 2nd July 2024, The Spirit Bares Its Teeth on 6th August 2024 with Compound Fracture publishing in September 2024 simultaneously with Peachtree Teen in US. Illumicrate will release hardback special editions of all three books.
Hell Followed With Us follows a trans boy who has been raised by a cult which transformed him into a bio-weapon. With Armageddon unleashed and the boy having escaped the cult, he begins his quest for revenge.
In The Spirit Bares Its Teeth a trans, autistic boy with the power to commune with spirits is sent to a school for girls whose gifts risk madness where he uncovers gruesome secrets.
Compound Fracture is a "gut-wrenching" thriller focusing on a teenager who, after surviving a murder attempt, is drawn into a generational struggle between the rural poor and the ghosts that seek vengeance.
Lancett commented: "I’ve not been able to stop thinking about Hell Followed With Us since first reading it, and The Spirit Bares Its Teeth is a phenomenal, heart-wrenching book that shows Andrew is going from strength to strength. These are powerful books exploring important themes, done so with style, talent, and passion."
White added: "I can’t even begin to explain how exciting it is for my YA triplets – Hell Followed With Us, The Spirit Bares Its Teeth, and the upcoming Compound Fracture – to journey to the UK together.
"For Daphne Press and Illumicrate to offer all of them a home across the pond is a dream come true. I’m grateful for every publisher that’s taken a risk on my discomforting books about autistic trans kids and righteous queer rage – we couldn’t have gotten this far without you all."
