Laura Dave, author of the Reese Witherspoon Book Club and Richard and Judy Book Club pick The Last Thing He Told Me (Viper), is moving to Penguin Random House’s Century with two new novels.
First of the two books, The Night We Lost Him, will be published in the US and UK in early 2024. Selina Walker, publisher at Century, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Matilda Forbes Watson at WME to the two new titles.
Walker said: “As soon as I read the opening pages of The Night We Lost Him I knew Laura was an author we just had to have on the Century list. She is one of the very few authors who provide readers with the whole shebang: pace, plot, and darkly unexpected twists and turns.
“A particular trait of her writing is the level of emotional connection and intensity we have as readers with her characters. This is why her books are so recommended and stretch across the market from fans of literary fiction to those who love commercial genres. Laura is of course a big bestseller in the US, and I am very much looking forward to bringing her books to countless more readers in the UK and beyond.”
Dave, whose previous books have also been published by S&S (Eight Hundred Grapes; Hello Sunshine) and Viking (The Divorce Party; The First Husband), said: “I have long admired Selina Walker and am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with her and the entire Century family.”
