HarperVoyager has acquired four more books from Sunday Times bestseller Juno Dawson in a new deal.
Natasha Bardon, publisher for HarperVoyager and Magpie Books, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, in the titles, from Sallyanne Sweeney at MMB Creative.
The first book in the new deal is a novella set in the world of Dawson’s bestselling Her Majesty’s Royal Coven series and is due to be published in summer 2024. The novella, Queen B, is the origin story of the titular coven, following Anne Boleyn. The subsequent books include an epic new duology series and a standalone novel.
Her Majesty’s Royal Coven was published by HarperVoyager in hardback in 2022 when it went straight to number one in the Sunday Times bestseller list. The second instalment, The Shadow Cabinet, was published in hardback earlier this month.
The series is also being optioned for TV by Left Bank Pictures, with Jess Brittain, whose writing credits include “Skins” and “The Essex Serpent”, attached to adapt the script.
Dawson said: “I’m pleased to continue my journey with HarperVoyager. It’s a no-brainer, to be honest. They have published Her Majesty’s Royal Coven beautifully, and we share in its success. I’m already looking forward to beginning a new saga, but first, we expand the world of HMRC next year with Queen B. I can’t wait for readers to see how the coven began.”
Sweeney said: “It’s been a joy to see Juno’s adult fiction take off so spectacularly. HMRC fans are in for such a treat.”
Bardon commented: “Juno’s creative, funny and the passion she brings to both her books and their publishing is boundless. It’s brilliant that we’ve made her and her fantastic series into a number one Sunday Times bestseller and I’m excited for what the future holds.”
