Sphere has acquired a new saga series by Rosie Hendry.
Manpreet Grewal, senior editor, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in three books from Felicity Trew at Caroline Sheldon Literary Agency.
Hendry’s new series and adult fiction debut is set at the start of the Second World War during the Blitz, following the fortunes of three very different women at the East End London Auxiliary Ambulance Service Station: East-Ender Frankie, former house-maid Bella and aristocratic Winne. Thrown together to form the new crew of Station 75, the question remains whether friendship, love and family can survive in such a climate.
Sphere plans to publish two books a year with the first publishing in autumn 2017.
Grewal said: “It’s very rare to find saga fiction that has the perfect combination of vivid storytelling, authenticity and strong female friendship but it was clear to me straight away that Rosie’s wonderful novels had all of these things and so much more. She’s a real talent and I’m delighted she chose to come to Sphere.”
Hendry lives in Norfolk with her husband and children, and is the author of short stories and children’s non-fiction books. This is her debut adult novel.
