Viking is to publish Deliciously Stella, a book based on the “unclean eating” Instagram sensation Deliciously Stella, by comedian Bella Younger.
Emily Robertson, editor at Viking, bought world rights from Caroline Fisher at Electric Talent.
Deliciously Stella is a "superfoodie with a difference". To save time, she uses Haribo eggs on her #avotoast, her favourite brand of coconut water is Malibu, and she thinks that a pack of Fruit Pastilles is one of her five-a-day.
The character is the brainchild of comedian Younger, who started the account after "seeing one too many photographs of tanned skinny women doing yoga on the beach, sipping green smoothies". Stella has 124k Instagram followers, a fortnightly podcast and "swathes" of celebrity fans.
This "stunning" illustrated book will bring the character of Deliciously Stella to the page, fresh from her Edinburgh Fringe run, with hilarious recipes, inspirational quotes and insights into her #blessed life.
According to the publisher: "Bella subtly subverts the clean eating genre, an area that has sky-rocketed in recent years with the likes of Joe Wicks, Deliciously Ella, Madeline Shaw and Hemsley+Hemsley."
Viking will publish Deliciously Stella in hardback and e-book on 8th September 2016, priced at £9.99.
