Disney and HarperCollins secure Artemis Fowl spin-off

Disney-Hyperion in the US and HarperCollins in the UK have struck deals for an Artemis Fowl spin-off series by Eoin Colfer.

Stephanie Lurie, editor-at-large at Disney-Hyperion, an imprint of Disney Book Group, acquired US rights and Rachel Denwood, publisher at HarperCollins Children’s Books in the UK, bought UK and Commonwealth rights to The Fowl Twins and one other title, both set in the Artemis Fowl world. Colfer’s agent is Sophie Hicks from the Sophie Hicks Literary Agency

The new novels will focus on Artemis’ younger brothers, Myles and Becket, who, after being left alone for just one night, end up having to save a troll from a nefarious nobleman and an interrogating nun  — each of whom need the magical creature for their own gain.

I cannot wait for a whole new generation of readersto immerse themselves in the magical adventures of Myles and Beckett,” said Colfer.

The Fowl Twins will be released in February 2020. In the lead-up to publication Disney-Hyperion will release repackaged editions of the second series of Artemis Fowl, comprising of eight books, starting in October 2018.

The Artemis Fowl books have sold more than 25 million copies around the world, according to HarperCollins Children’s Books, and a film, directed by Kenneth Branagh, is due for release in 2019. The novels were previously published in the UK by Penguin Random House Children's.
