DK Children’s has acquired Dr Ranj Singh’s "ultimate, illustrated" guide to what makes us tick. Associate publishing director Francesca Young acquired world rights to Dr Ranj’s Human Body Encyclopedia including audio and e-book for one title from KT Forster at KT Forster Literary Agency working with Craig Latto of Talent4Media. The book publishes in hardback in June 2026 in the UK and US.
The book is aimed at readers of seven and up and will feature a combination of illustrations and photography alongside a narrative text which correlates with the requirements of the KS1 Science Curriculum.
The synopsis: "Join Dr Ranj on an exciting journey inside your body’s systems – from the powerhouse of the heart to the bustling networks of your brain. Whether for future doctors and scientists or knowledge hungry readers, this book is the ultimate companion for exploring the amazing world within us. Readers will be inspired, amazed, and totally fascinated!"
Singh said: "I’ve always been enthralled by science and I credit DK with being a huge part of my journey to becoming a doctor. The very first human body encyclopedia I owned was published by them so I am delighted to see Human Body Encyclopedia come out with such a groundbreaking visual publisher. Francesca and the team have been wonderful to work with – I can’t wait for this book to inspire the next generation of curious minds."
Young said: "At DK we know a thing or two about extraordinary encyclopaedias so I leapt at the chance to have one of the UK’s best-loved doctors create a medical encyclopaedia that is perfect for Generation Alpha. Ranj’s text is informative and warm at the same time, just like Ranj himself. We know it’s going to be something truly out of this world!"
