DK Life has pre-empted the rights to publish two books with financial organisation Female Invest to help educate women and non-binary people “on safe, smart and sustainable investing”.
Zara Anvari, senior acquisitions editor, acquired world rights to Girls Just Wanna Have Funds: A Feminist Guide to Investing and one other book from Oscar Janson-Smith at Gleam Futures. The first book will publish in December 2022.
The organisation was founded by Camilla Falkenberg, Emma Due Bitz and Anna-Sophie Hartvigsen. Through their subscription business, which has paying members in 82 countries, Female Invest educates women in the essentials of personal finance and investing.
Girls Just Wanna Have Funds is described by the publisher as “an empowering guide with a straight-talking message: you don’t have to be an expert or a millionaire to make money”.
It added: “Simply equip yourself with the easy-to-follow golden rules and tools of three finance gurus to find your confidence and open up a whole new world of opportunities. The book includes jargon-free introductions to key investment principles and pairs these with practical tools, motivational quotes, overarching statistics and enlightening diagrams to equip and embolden readers. Dotted throughout the book are goal-keeping and personal considerations to help the reader make smarter decisions and their journey bespoke to them, building confidence and independence.”
Female Invest said: “This book is a physical manifestation of years of hard work. Our ultimate goal is to empower women and marginalised voices who have traditionally been left out of the conversation around money. It’s time to change the tides of power, and we’ve written this book in the hope that it will change the lives of those who read it.”
Anvari added: “It is not every day that you get to commission such an important and empowering book. As the founders of Europe’s largest financial education platform targeting women, and authors of Girls Just Wanna Have Funds, Anna-Sophie, Emma and Camilla have made it their mission to change women’s lives by giving them the tools to invest and thrive. I have loved learning from them and am sure readers will find their clear, relatable guidance invaluable and inspiring, just as I have.”
