DK signs Armstrong's 'inclusive' birth guide

DK will publish The Fearless Birth Book: Find Your Power, Influence Your Birth by Emma Armstrong, a.k.a. The Naked Doula.

Katie Cowan, publishing director for DK Life, acquired world rights from Megan Staunton at Bergstrom Studio. DK is set to publish it hardback and audiobook on 2nd May 2024.

The publisher said: “Emma Armstrong is a certified birth doula, hypnobirthing coach, birth influencer and talented illustrator, with over 162,000 followers on Instagram. Known for her fun, fierce and empowering approach, Emma is on a mission to change the way we see and experience birth. Emma is the founder of The Naked Birth, which offers empowering birth courses for parents-to-be at every stage of their journey, from pregnancy to birth and postpartum.”

The blurb reads: “Combining Emma’s trademark humour, expert advice and empowering illustrations, The Fearless Birth Book offers a fresh, inclusive approach to birth, encouraging women to have the power to influence their birth experience by tuning in to their body and brain. It is pitched as “engaging and approachable" and as “acknowledging the diversity of experiences from Caesarean births, home births, rainbow births, to second births and multiple births”.
