DK Life has acquired the rights to Dr Philippa Kaye’s new book, The Science of Menopause.
Zara Anvari, senior acquisitions editor, obtained the rights from Jane Graham Maw at Graham Maw Christie Agency. This is the 10th title in DK’s bestselling The Science of… series. Dr Kaye’s book will be published in hardback, audiobook and e-book in the UK and the US on 10th October 2024.
The Science of Menopause tackles tricky questions around a huge range of topics, from HRT and early menopause to brain fog, herbal supplements and the importance of good perimenopausal sex.
The book is backed up by the latest academic research and supported by demystifying data visualisations.
Dr Kaye said: “I am proud that The Science of Menopause is evidence-based as well as easily understandable and hope it will be a source of wisdom and empowerment for everyone. As a working doctor, I can only reach a certain number of patients in a day, but I do know that when we inform women, they share their information with their friends and family, so I hope that this book helps to inform those conversations.”
Anvari said: “The Science of… series stands apart not only for its illuminating data visualisation, but also for the unmatched authority of its authors. Philippa is one of the UK’s most trusted menopause educators and campaigners, and her book is the one you’ll want by your side when you’re worried and have questions. With The Science of Menopause she has written something new and empowering for a whole new generation approaching menopause.”
Dr Kaye is the author of a number of books, most recently Breasts: An Owner’s Guide, also published by DK, having spent years as a GP and TV doctor. She is an ambassador for Wellbeing of Women, part of the Menopause Mandate campaign for better menopause support.
DK Living will expand the series further with two more titles scheduled for 2025.
