DK to publish Rose's 'honest and empowering' account of living abroad

DK is set to publish You Deserve Good Gelato by social media star Kacie Rose, billed as “an honest and empowering account of living abroad”.  

Lucy Richards, senior editor, acquired world rights from Francesca Whyte at Matchstick. It will publish in paperback and audiobook on 2nd May 2024.  

Rose is a travel content creator living in Florence, Italy. After a life-changing solo trip, she made the official move to Italy three years ago in January 2021.  

The publisher said: “Through Kacie’s characteristic relatable and joyful style, You Deserve Good Gelato is a refreshingly honest account of what she’s learnt from living in a different culture. She explains how travel is a privilege, why cultural differences are the coolest things in the world, and how there’s a positive you can take away from literally any situation. By sharing a candid outlook on Kacie’s experiences of moving from the US to Italy, promoting kindness, and embracing failure, You Deserve Good Gelato empowers readers to likewise challenge themselves.” 

You Deserve Good Gelato also marks the start of a new era for DK’s travel publishing, as the publisher expands its travel publishing beyond travel guides. The publisher said the new strand will give a platform to authentic “travel voices”.
