Doubleday has announced a new Kate Atkinson book featuring private detective Jackson Brodie.
It will publish Death at The Sign of the Rook, described as a “brilliantly unique take on the classic country house murder” in August 2024. The book is part of an ongoing deal, negotiated by m.d. Larry Finlay for UK and commonwealth rights from Peter Straus at RCW.
Publication of Death at The Sign of the Rook will be accompanied by a “major” promotional campaign, Doubleday said, including a “striking” new cover look for the entire Jackson Brodie series.
Atkinson has sold 4.2 million copies for £26.8m via the Nielsen BookScan Total Consumer Market since records began. Her top two are both Jackson Brodies (When Will There be Good News? and One Good Turn) and have sold a little over 500,000 units while her latest, 2022’s Shrines of Gaiety, has shifted 165,000 copies for £1.6m through all editions.
