Dream Logic snaps up rights to Kenny's Monsters of Rookhaven

Dream Logic has snapped up film and TV rights for Pádraig Kenny’s middle-grade series The Monsters of Rookhaven.

Rights for the series were bought  from Emily Hayward-Whitlock at The Artists Partnership, on behalf of the Sophie Hicks Agency. Book one was published in the UK by Macmillan Children's Books in September 2020 and is about to be published in the US by Macmillan. The sequel will follow in autumn 2021.

The first book's synopsis reads: “Mirabelle has always known she is a monster. When the glamour protecting her unusual family from the human world is torn and an orphaned brother and sister stumble upon Rookhaven, Mirabelle soon discovers that friendship can be found in the outside world. But as something far more sinister comes to threaten them all, it quickly becomes clear that the true monsters aren't necessarily the ones you can see.”

Kenny said: “I was bowled over by Dream Logic’s passion for the Monsters of Rookhaven and by the fact that they instinctively understood the heart of the book. I can’t wait to see their vision for Mirabelle and her family.”

Dream Logic was set up in 2016 and has won praise for its film and TV animations, most recently with its work on “The Christmas Letter”, starring Kate Winslet, Fiona Shaw and Caitriona Balfe.
