Saqi Books is to publish Don't Panic, I'm Islamic: Extreme Vetting, NOW!, a satirical book that claims to provide the answers to "all your burning Muslamic-related questions".
The publisher holds world rights to the title, which will be published in July.
The publisher said the tongue-in-cheek book will teach readers how to "spot an elusive Islamist", discover how Arabs (even 21-year-old, largely innocuous and totally adorable ones) plant bombs, and get tips about how to interact with Homeland Security, which may or may not involve "funny discussions about your sexuality". It will also answer questions such as: How can you tell if your neighbour is speaking Muslim? Is a mosque a kind of hedgehog? Can I get fries with that burka?
The collection contains words and images of "mass destruction" from over 30 "suspects", including Carol Ann Duffy, Alberto Manguel, Chris Riddell, Leila Aboulela, Sjón, Negin Farsad, Karl Sharro, Bidisha, Molly Crabapple, Hassan Abdulrazzaq, Arwa Mahdawi, Hassan Hajjaj, Laila Shawa and Sinan Antoon.
"Crackling with wit and verve, these subversive pieces of words and art from Sudan, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Yemen and Syria around the world are an explosion of expression, creativity and colour", the publisher said.
Lynn Gaspard, publisher at Saqi Books and editor of the volume, said: "This will be essential reading for budding tyrants everywhere… There’s never been a book like this one. We always get the best books. We’re so good at books. We’re great at books. The best at books. So nice, thank you very much."
