Faber Children’s has bought world rights to début author and school library assistant Judith Eagle’s The Secret Starling, a tale of a girl who is abandoned in her family’s crumbling Yorkshire mansion and begins unraveling family secrets.
Editorial director Alice Swan, who struck a deal with Tessa David at Peters, Fraser & Dunlop, said: “A hidden ballet shoe holds the key to a mysterious past... it has every ingredient you want in a great story.”
