Ebury has landed American businesswoman and furniture designer Iris Apfel’s “precious” book on colour and creativity.
Publishing director Laura Higginson bought world all-language rights to Colourful from Lori Sale at Artist and Brand. Ebury Press will publish in hardback and e-book on 22nd August 2024 to mark Apfel’s 103rd birthday.
Higginson said: "It has been a privilege to spend time with Iris, listening to her stories and experiences over her fascinating life, reflecting on the wisdom she has put into the world over the years, looking through her treasured photographs, and diving into the Old World Weavers fabric archive to bring everything together in one definitive book on colour and creativity. What she has shared with us, from 102 years of life, is precious. She is the authority on the power of colour on mind, body and spirit and we are honoured to be the publisher to bring this legacy book to the world with a simultaneous launch in multiple languages next summer.”
Apfel added: "This book is about living, creating and colour. Because creativity and colour matter. I don’t want you to dress like me or think like me – that’s not the idea of this book. I want you to find the colours, confidence and creative inspiration that reflect you. My life has been filled with love, wonder and a deep, incurable curiosity. This book is my treasure trove of inspiration, influences and ideas.”
