Albert DePetrillo, publishing director, acquired world rights from Julian Alexander at The Soho Agency and Netflix. Witness will publish in November 2023, and rights have already been sold in mainland China, France, Italy, Japan, Germany and the Netherlands, with more deals pending. Fletcher is a vertebrate palaeontology consultant and the main scientific consultant for Silverback on the series.
The publisher says: “Today there are 20 million species on our planet. Yet what we see is just a snapshot in time: 99% of Earth’s inhabitants are lost to our deep past. The story of what happened to these lineages — their rise and their fall — is truly remarkable.
