Ebury Spotlight has acquired Klopp: The Liverpool FC Celebration, with commissioning editor Abigail Le Marquand-Brown acquiring world all language rights directly from the club.
Klopp will be published in print and digital formats on 26th September by Ebury Spotlight in the UK and by Ten Speed Press in the US and Canada, both divisions of Penguin Random House. Rights have also been sold to Edel Verlag in Germany, Otwarte in Poland, Nakladatelství Práh s.r.o in Czechia, ReadMe in Finland and Gabo in Hungary.
Including a foreword from Jürgen Klopp, exclusive new interviews from players, club heroes and competitors, as well as imagery from the club’s archive, the book promises to place readers at the heart of Klopp’s LFC journey and reveals new insight about the manager, the publisher says, adding that Ebury and LFC are planning an exciting line-up of joint PR and marketing activity to tie-in with the anniversary of the German’s arrival at the club on 8th October.
In Klopp: My Liverpool Celebration those who know Klopp best trace the moments that shaped his incredible tenure with the club. James Milner speaks about how Klopp set about transforming Liverpool FC’s fortunes in their first away game against Tottenham; Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk outline how he convinced them to sign for him and Jordan Henderson reveals what he said in his team talk to inspire their legendary Champions League comeback against Barcelona in 2019.
Mauricio Pochettino describes how it felt to face Jürgen’s team as they became Champions of Europe for a sixth time and Sir Kenny Dalglish recalls the momentous 2019/2020 Premier League season and how Klopp ended the club’s 30-year wait. “Together their stories form a unique celebration and describe the indelible mark that Jürgen Klopp has left on Liverpool Football Club.,” the publisher says.
Mike Cox, senior vice president of merchandising at Liverpool Football Club, said: “Klopp is the definitive account of his incredible time as manager of LFC, from the people who worked with him most closely day in and day out. We’re so proud to have been able to produce this for our fans and football supporters, covering the highs and the lows, from his very first day in charge to his very last. Enjoy the incredible journey once again."
Le Marquand-Brown added: “Jürgen Klopp has had a direct impact on the lives of millions of Liverpool fans around the world - none more so than the 60 legendary contributors that have offered their heartfelt words and insight within this book. I am so proud to have worked with Liverpool FC to create this, their fully illustrated, official celebration of Jürgen’s career at LFC, which I’m certain will be cherished by fans for years to come.”
