Eddie Jones autobiography to be published by Pan Mac this month
England’s Rugby World Cup coach Eddie Jones’ autobiography will be published by Pan Macmillan this month, it has been announced.
The news was revealed days after England’s loss against South Africa in Japan in the tournament final on Saturday.
Written with Donald McRae, a two-time winner of the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award, My Life and Rugby promises “the full, unexpurgated account” of England’s World Cup campaign. It will be available in hardback, e-book and audio on 21st November.
The publisher said: “With unique insights into his coaching methods and leadership strategies as well as the triumphs and heartbreaks of the last four years, My Life and Rugby is the only book that will provide a full behind the scenes account of England’s staggering journey from going out of their home World Cup in the group stages in 2015, to the World Cup final in 2019. The key change in those four years has been the arrival of Eddie Jones, the charismatic, controversial and undeniably brilliant coach who has rebooted England’s national rugby team."
Jones will tell his life story from growing up in Sydney to his playing career at Randwick and then coaching Australia to the World Cup final in 2003. His story also covers taking Japan to their sensational win over South Africa that made worldwide news in 2015, before finishing with a full account of his eventful four-year stint as England coach.
Macmillan non-fiction publisher Robin Harvie revealed he has been working with Jones on the book since 2016 when world rights were bought from Craig Livingstone of Livingstone Management Group
He said: “'Eddie Jones’s autobiography is the story of not only England's rise from the ashes, but also that of how a half-Japanese kid from the wrong side of Sydney rose to become one of the most revered coaches in world rugby. Eddie's story will inspire a generation who want to know what it takes to be the best in the world. The book, written with twice William Hill winner Don McRae, is also a riveting must-read for all fans of the sport. It has been a massive privilege to have been part of this journey and we are hugely honoured to be publishing Eddie on the Macmillan Sports list."
The November publication will be backed by a UK tour, with Jones appearing at signings in Newcastle, Fylde, the Wirral, Oswestry, London, Bath and Exeter.
